Frequently asked questions
How FakeTrade works, in short.
Effective date: 2026-09-04
Is this real money?
No. Every balance, order and position on FakeTrade is simulated. You cannot deposit, withdraw or lose real money here, and there is no KYC because there is nothing to verify.
Where do the prices come from?
Real market data, per asset class:
| Crypto | Binance | live |
| US stocks | Finnhub | live during market hours |
| Forex | Yahoo | delayed |
| Gold | TwelveData | live |
| Silver | end-of-day feed | about a day behind |
The prices are real; the fills are simulated by our own engine, so your order never reaches an exchange.
Why did my balance drop?
Usually one of four things:
- A position moved against you.
- Leverage multiplied a small price move into a large loss — at 100×, a 1% move against you wipes out the position.
- A position was liquidated when it reached its liquidation price.
- You used the ranked top-up, which resets your ranked balance to $10,000 and closes any positions you had open.
The Trades tab in History shows what actually settled, with the realised profit or loss on each close.
How do the leaderboard and prizes work?
The weekly leaderboard ranks ranked accounts by return. The top 10 share a pool of $47,000 in virtual cash, settled every Monday at 00:15 UTC for the week that just closed. Prizes are paid in simulated currency — there is no real payout.
What is the difference between Ranked and Sandbox?
Ranked counts toward the leaderboard and the weekly prizes, so it has one balance you are expected to live with. Sandbox is a private practice balance you can reset whenever you like, and it never affects your ranking.
How do I delete my account?
Open Account settings and use Delete account. You retype your username to confirm, and the deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Your email and Google profile are erased; your simulated trading history is kept under an anonymous handle so the competition results stay verifiable — the full detail is in the privacy policy. If you would rather we did it for you, write to contact@faketrade.fun.
Is there a mobile app?
No — there is no iOS or Android app, and none is planned. The site is built for phones as well as desktop, so you can trade from a mobile browser and add FakeTrade to your home screen.
